What is Cannabis Plant?
The flowering cannabis plant is well-known for its special chemical components, especially its cannabinoids, which have a range of physiological and psychological benefits. For thousands of years, people have utilized it for a variety of reasons, such as industrial, recreational, and medical applications.
Humans are said to have been using cannabis for more than 10,000 years. Cannabis was utilized for medical purposes and for its fibers to produce rope and cloth in China, where it was first documented to be used.
Ancient societies like the Sumerians (Mesopotamia) and the Egyptians used cannabis because of its therapeutic qualities. The plant was used to treat a variety of skin diseases as well as pain and inflammation.
Cannabis interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex signaling network that helps maintain balance (homeostasis) in various physiological processes, including mood, pain, appetite, sleep, immune function, and more.
There are three main types of cannabis plants:
- Cannabis sativa: Known for its tall, thin leaves, this variety is commonly used for its psychoactive effects (due to THC) and can also be grown for its fiber (hemp).
- Cannabis indica: Typically shorter and bushier than sativa, this variety is often used for its calming, relaxing effects due to its higher levels of CBD, though it also contains THC.
- Cannabis ruderalis: A smaller, less common variety, known for its ability to grow in colder climates and its automatic flowering nature, meaning it doesn’t rely on light cycles to flower.
What is CBD?
It is the primary chemical compound extracted from leaf and flower of the plant. CBD has been studied for its potential benefits in treating conditions like anxiety, chronic pain, epilepsy, and insomnia. It’s often used for medical purposes, and our CBD-based products are becoming increasingly popular for wellness.
It helps in releasing Serotonin in brain which is an Anti-depressing hormone and is often associated with giving calming properties to human and used for patients in reducing stress, anxiety and uplift mood.
What is THC?
THC is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, which means it is responsible for the “high” or altered state of mind that users experience when they consume cannabis. It produces a feeling of euphoria and its core medicinal value pertains to pain relief. When we say pain, we mean extreme or chronic pain caused to due whatever reasons.
